A “drinking competition”? That should be fun. Wonder how the winner will be chosen.
I’m tempted to go just to watch.

Our Oktoberfest was last weekend.
I wasn’t aware that Rednecks needed an excuse to drink beer, or that Gangstas needed an excuse to insert sharp objects into previously intact flesh, but apparently, Oktoberfest is a blanket excuse for all sorts of riotous behavior.
Damn Krauts.

Gosh-I have been CRAVING some German food, specifically Sauerbraten with red cabbage and a little beer to wash it down would be just fine too.
I hope it is alright that I linked your Chinese Pager torture post to my last post. Just so funny and I linked some others as well.
PROST!

Could have been worse–the 13th could have been Friday.

Wow! Best of FIVE drinking tournament! That combined with that nasty German food makes for some very obnoxious smells in the OR when we operate for that Gangsta inflicted bowel injury. Could be almost as fun as Stab-o De Mayo!

Just had to comment that I just returned from the Volksfest held in Stuttgart Germany, and had a blast. I posted a few videos on youtube, just search for volksfest and you should find them. There’s a random german song, a toast being done, and part of the YMCA song (with mostly german lyrics).
Great food, great people, and best of all, great 1 liter beers!

Hi Whitecoat- I just want to say that I satisfied my craving for German food last night. I had to go down into another county for a test yesterday and it was rush hour by the time we got out of the hospital and so decided to go on a more scenic route to go back home. As fate would have it there was this wonderful German restaurant on the way home that I had always wanted to go to but never did.
I had the sauerbraten, red cabbage, and potato with black forest cake for desert. I didn’t get beer though (still a distance from home) and so had a gin and tonic with a lime twist instead.
My German genes are still reveling in the bliss of the experience.
