It is rather frustrating when everyone in the emergency department is running their tails off and a patient with a cough for two weeks who has been waiting two hours to be seen busts out of the room doing some backward-assed Ethel Merman routine, announces that the whole hospital sucks, that the ED staff “can’t take care of sh@%,” and that she is going to another hospital where they know how to take better care of patients.
It is rather satisfying to receive a call from a nurse at the other hospital’s ED stating that the patient is headed back our way after doing an encore performance in their emergency department when she learned that the wait to be seen there was 4 to 5 hours.

Karma is indeed a bitch.
A bitch I usually love.

Haha! Funny Exi!
I know Whitecoat…ya have to wonder what they are thinking…oh wait…they’re NOT! But really…was it worth it to then come back if you factor in the trip back and new wait time?
Also…they must not be that bad off if they feel they can ping pong back and forth.

Recently, I had one plop down in my triage chair telling me she was going to call 9-11 from the waiting room and go to another hospital if I made her wait in the lobby or waste time signing in.
Okay, the phones are over there…

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could point out that the wait time at a primary care doctor’s office is much shorter? (I’m asssuming that a rule against saying it is the only thing that stops you.)

I agree with Jamie, unless this person had no insurance, why are they at the ER instead of a doc’s office>\?
