Taking a Break
Posted by WhiteCoat on December 29, 2007
I’ve actually been making posts from my trusty Treo for the past few days while we have been traveling - saved a few posts on the WordPress site and just published them when I had a free minute.
Well, internet access on Grandma WhiteCoat’s dial up connection just doesn’t cut it, so I’m taking a few days off rather than try to type in new stuff with a keyboard the size of a couple postage stamps.
Thank you all for what you have contributed to this blog this year. Six months ago I would read read a few of my favorite blogs and comment every once in a while (under a different name). The past 5 months have been a whirlwind. What started as a way to “vent” about a few things and to see if some of the things amusing to me were amusing to others has turned into something where I look forward to logging in to read comments every day. Work is different when I look for a different perspective to tell stories about - funny, sad, or introspective.
Your comments have made me laugh more times than I could imagine and made me think about my views on life. Several times your thoughtful posts have changed the way I think about life.
Thanks for all your support! Have a safe and happy New Year. I look forward to a lot more fun in the coming year.

Thanks for the great posts I just found your site last week. It’s the little things that get us through the holidays. Take this morning for example. It’s an averagely busy day for a Saturday morning in the ER. A woman in admitting is getting verbally aggressive that she hasn’t been seen. Now, I don’t know if I’ve always had a different out look on things, or perhaps I just don’t expect much, but I’ve never expected to be seen right away in any of my walk in ER visits. At this point I’m also thinking that if a patient is well enough to make a scene at the admitting desk chances are they’re not sick enough to supersede all of the other patients. She declares that the only way to get into “this damn place” is to go home and call an ambulance, and that she was going to do just that. Not two minutes after she stormed out the front door the nurse came in and called her back.
Have a great new year!

Instead of publishing my own blog, yours is one I have been too busy reading on a regular basis. Thank you for sharing your insights and stories. May you and your family have a wonderful new year! Looking forward to seeing more posts when you’re back

I’m nothing without you, Dr. Whitecoat. The void is so vast. My blogging mojo is nil. My pain, my suffering is ever-expansive. Please don’t go.

Please hurry back, WhiteCoat. We need your help to get Nurse K away from YouTube. She needs an intervention, and it’ll take all of us.
But don’t let me distract you from your time away. We’ll try to hold on until you get back.

Nurse K! I had a totally different image of you in my mind…you look so different out of scrubs!
(ya know I am kidding - funny video!)
Nurse K and Monkeygirl back to back in the comments…that just seems so right..like matching bookends. And God help everyone if the 3 of you ever worked the same ED! I’d pay to see that!
Hope your having lots of merriment Whitecoat! You’ve impacted us as well. This blogging thing IS an amazing hobby. I got hooked on the med blogs initially because of the exquisite humor and interesting posts… then to make friends along the way is just icing on the cake. Looking forward to your future posts. Happy New year to you and your loved ones!

We’ll try to hold on until you get back.
…by watching YouTube to distract us from your absence. Duh.
