Deborah Peel Central
Posted by WhiteCoat on May 16, 2008
I won’t go through the whole history in this post, but suffice it to say that SHE started it.
Now I’m going into Deborah Peel overload. It’s like this blog is Deborah Peel Central. Dammit, Cap’n, she can’t take any more!
I get multiple hits every day from people doing internet searches for “Deborah Peel.”
One reader sent me links showing how much that Deborah Peel donated to different political campaigns in 2002 and in 2008.
Someone else sent me a list of quotes from Deborah Peel.
I also got a link to a case where Deborah Peel had issues with a divorce from her husband and got him in trouble with police when he admitted having an affair with Deborah’s 16 year old sister. That was a case of mistaken identity, thought - it involved Deborah J. Peel, not Deborah C. Peel.
Someone sent me a link showing how Deborah Peel just joined the board of a Texas autism center.
Gee, and did you know that Deborah Peel was #4 on Modern Healthcare’s 2007 list of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare (ahead of George Bush and just behind Ahnald)?
Now she’s so famous that she has been caught by the paparazzi hanging out with Britney Spears …
If you do a Google search for the term “Deborah Peel,” the results show that her name is becoming the de facto standard pseudonym for patient privacy on medical blogs. Woohoooo! Move over Jane Doe.
Amazing what a little caffeine and a good rant can do sometimes.
Makes me wonder what Jane Doe ever did to tick someone off …
OK, OK I doctored the pictures on Photoshop. Deborah Peel doesn’t really hang out with Britney. At least I think she doesn’t …

I cant wait until case studies start using Deborah Peel as a pseudonym for the patient.
“In this paper, we report an unusual presentation of Chlamydia in a patient. Deborah Peel* first presented with….
*: Pseudonym”

I’d feel bad for her, but I had a bran muffin and a strong cup of coffee; I’m off to find a newspaper and take a good, healthy Deborah Peel.
At least my digestion is healthy. I’d hate to have to lug around and empty my Deborah peel bag.

We need a male version of Deborah Peel (Jane Doe). Maybe Dub Peel or Doug Peel (John Doe).

The male version is still Deborah Peel. He doesn’t even have to be wearing a kilt. It may be emasculating for some men, but Dr. Peel is man enough for the job.

Her medical license has expired. Oops! –Scalpel
Interesting that it expired for non-payment. Also according to that link, she doesn’t take Medicaid. Well maybe if she would accept Medicaid she would have the money to pay for her license. Snicker.

There is always the possibility of google-bombing the name. Look what happened to Rick Santorum. Go google Santorum and you will find his bio displaced from the top hit.

[...] There is a time and a place for everything, there’s a time and a place for venting, and people have been telling “bad student stories” or the medical equivalent, annoying patient stories for years. Blogging and the internet have the opportunity for wider dissemination, however. I do like the snarky, insidious way the name Deborah Peel has become the standard pseudonym for patients on medical blogs-you can find the story here. [...]
