Top 100 Free Medical Software Programs

Posted by WhiteCoat on May 17, 2008

The “LiveSmarter” blog came out with a comprehensive list of its votes for the top 100 free software programs for medical professionals.

Lots of good stuff on there, including free medical billing and EMR software for docs and diaries/other programs for patients.

Hat tip to the Healthcare IT Guy.

Great site! It looks like I’m going to be on the computer downloading some new programs, as well as checking out the blogs listed in other posts on LiveSmarter….

Wow, thanks for the link. I look forward to exploring the possibilities.

I use Open Office, which is mentioned in the list. I’m starting to like Google Documents better. Open Office is big and slow. With Google Docs, there is nothing to download, and if you are logged in to your gmail account, you just click on that link (http://documents.google.com/) and you are immediately taken to your documents, which also do not take up disk space on your machine.

Additionally, I find the Google Docs interface to be a lot more like MS Office than Open Office is. I’ll continue to use both, but I’m moving more to Google Docs.

    Hi!
My name is Taylor and I work for a company called Practice Fusion. We offer a web-based EMR that is free to physicians, and you should definitely add us to the top 100 list.
There are many high-quality and free, web-based applications out there. Google Apps. is just one example. I can honestly say that we deliver the best product and support at absolutely no cost, and with no on-site implementation. And that is why we are one of the fastest growing physician practice communities in the United States. We have outstanding technical support, and we pride ourselves on our “Live in Five” process which allows us to get users started within five minutes of calling. If you are interested in learning more about Practice Fusion, you can check out our free EMR Also, take a look at what others have to say about us: http://www.fiercehealthit.com/innova…practicefusion, http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=4670.
If you prefer, you can visit the website and take a demo with a Practice Fusion team member. Give us a call at 415-346-7700.
