The Discriminating But-tock

Wine buffs are said to have a “discriminating palate.”
In the ED, you know that someone has been around the block a few times with pain meds when you order a shot of Phenergan for the patient’s pain complaints (due to multiple other allergies) and the interaction with the nurse goes as follows:
Nurse goes into the room with a syringe full of Phenergan.
The patient asks “What is that shot you’re giving me?”
The nurse answers “This is the pain medication that the doctor ordered.”
The patient pulls down her pants and gets the shot in the buttock.
After getting the shot, the patient says “MAN! That stuff burns just like Phenergan!”

LOL… that’s true. A lot of my patients who are like that though won’t be satisfied with me saying it’s the medicine the doctor ordered. They’ll want to know what the name of the medicine is, the dosage, and if he ordered it q2 or q4. They’ll then call me into the room exactly an hour later and say “hey it’s been an hour and you haven’t reassessed my pain, it’s still 10/10, I have not had any relief…”

And usually, when the patient finds out that you slipped them phenergan, they claim an allergy to it the next time….

They never realize you’re giving them an antihistamine to shut them up and knock them out? OH well. It works on my dad… every time… that would be… umm… at least every couple months he’s in “some kind of pain.” He always get’s that “shot” that makes him sleep until the doc comes to tell him the tests were fine and he can go home. Wow, Phenergan the “Cry Wolf” shot.
It was my friend during pregnancy, though. Couldn’t have eaten without the stuff.

Was the subject line referring to the muscle or the patient?
At least someone got the double entendre – with the Forrest Gump reference thrown in.

Ah, Forrest Gump reference! How could I have missed that!

Reminds me of a joke.
What do you call a person who con can sit on an ice cream cone and tell you what flavored it is?
A smartass.

I was expecting a mention of the sommelier also being called a “nose.”
I suspect that there are many drugs that would burn, but the patient often receives Phenergan, so automatically makes that connection.
